Assistant Professor Department of Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies University of Minnesota
The Department of Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, invites applications for a full-time, one-year contract faculty position with the possibility of a two-year extension. The position begins fall semester 2008. Essential qualifications include a Ph.D. or foreign equivalent by the start date for appointment, though advanced ABD's may be considered. Preference will be given to candidates whose doctorates are in the interdisciplinary field of feminist, gender, and/or sexuality studies. The area of specialization is open. Candidates will be evaluated according to the overall quality of their academic preparation and scholarly work, evidence of commitment to teaching and skills as a teacher, and strength of recommendations. The teaching load is two courses per semester, with an emphasis on undergraduate course offerings. Candidates will be expected to engage actively in department committees and intellectual life. Preference given to candidates who can contribute to the department's, college's and university's interdisciplinary strengths. Appointment will be 100%-time for the nine-month academic year beginning 28 August 2008. Salary is competitive.
